Clinical Dr. Thomas O. McMeekin 
Dr. Thomas O. McMeekin, who is the president of the Genesee Valley Laser Centre, received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction at Stanford University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester Medical School in 1971.
Dr. McMeekin served an Internal Medicine Internship at the Harvard University Beth Israel University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 1972. He completed his residency in medicine at the University of Rochester in 1976. He completed his residency in Dermatology at Harvard University (Massachusetts General Hospital and the Lahey Clinic) in 1978.
Dr. McMeekin is board certified in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
He is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. A nationally recognized speaker on lasers, he teaches several laser courses. He has published numerous articles on laser therapy. Dr. Beth Lertzman
Dr. Beth Lertzman received her Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry at the University of Delaware, Honors Program, where she was elected to the Beta Biological Honor Society. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Hahnemann University Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1993.
Dr. Lertzman served an Internal Medicine Internship at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 1994. She completed her residency in Dermatology at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, in 1997. During her residency, she published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meetings.
Dr. Lertzman is board certified in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
She has developed a strong interest in performing chemical peels and Botox for facial rejuvenation. She has trained in various courses including those the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Nana Duffy
Dr. Nana Duffy has a strong training in medical dermatology and also performs some cosmetic and laser procedures. Her particular interests include complementary and alternative medicine, ethnic skin and epidemiology. Dr. Duffy earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware Honors Program, her medical degree and master’s of science in clinical epidemiology (M.S.C.E) from the University of Pennsylvania, and she completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Rochester. Dr. Duffy is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and a book chapter on complementary and alternative medicine in dermatology. Dr. Duffy is taking new patients and is excited to join the medical community of Rochester.
Dr. Holly Hahn
Dr. Holly Hahn has practiced dermatology for over 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in biology at Wittenberg University and her medical degree at The Ohio State University. Dr. Hahn trained in residencies at Indiana University leading to board certification in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. She finished her training at Duke University and is board certified in Dermatopathology. Dr. Hahn then spent 7 years on faculty at Indiana University where she performed patient care, clinical trials and clinical research, wrote publications and gave seminars.
Since 2004, she has been at Genesee Valley Laser Centre where she continues to give dermatologic medical and surgical care and also provides additional focus on skin rejuvenation and cosmetic techniques. These include laser treatments and surgeries, injectible fillers, Botox, Thermage and sclerotherapy.
Besides being board certified, Dr. Hahn is a diplomat of the American Society of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Society of Dermatopathology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She remains active with continuing education, board re-certification, and local societies.
Dr. Hahn continues to accept new patients for comprehensive dermatologic care.
Kristin Capuano, FNP-C
Kristin Capuano, FNP-C, is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2004, and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from the University of Rochester in 2008 to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Kristin has worked at Strong Memorial Hospital for five years on the trauma/general surgery unit. She has served as a charge nurse and preceptor for new nurses. Kristin has also been a clinical instructor for University of Rochester nursing students.
Kristin is a member of Sigma Theta Tau national honor society. She also holds memberships in the American Society of Laser Medicine, as well as the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State.
She has trained extensively with Dr. McMeekin, and participates in continuing education in the field of dermatology. Kristin also runs the Infusion Center here at GVLC, where we currently infuse Remicade and Reclast.
Tina Higgs, FNP-C
Tina Higgs, NP-C has dual certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Rochester and received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Virginia in 2006. She is licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner in New York and Virginia.
Tina has worked in private practices in Internal Medicine for 2 years and Plastic Surgery for 3 years. She has advanced training in cosmetic injectables and has given presentations on the benefits of laser treatments and dermal injectables for skin care enhancements. She has also been a preceptor and clinical instructor for students.
Tina is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Dermatology Nurses Association, Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State, and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Karen Arcara, R.N.
Karen Arcara, R.N. is GVLC’s Nurse Manager and Clinical Laser Specialist. She received her A.A.S. in Nursing from Monroe Community College in 1993.
Karen’s previous experience includes Registered Nurse at Highland Hospital and Laser Nurse Specialist in the Operating Room at Rochester General Hospital. She has given several professional presentations on laser safety, wound care and the nursing role in the treatment of laser side effects.
Karen has worked at GVLC since 2001. She has trained extensively to provide a variety of laser procedures to our patients. She is also a member of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Esthetician
Kristine Border
Kristine Border is a Graduate of Continental School of Beauty Culture. She is a licensed esthetician specializing in medical esthetics.
After working in the dental field for 13 years, Kristine went back to school to pursue her passion in skin care. Kristine has been with Genesee Valley Laser Centre since May 2008.
Kristine is certified in a variety of skin care products such as Vivité, Kinerase and SkinMedica. She also performs a variety of different types of facials depending on her clients skin care needs.
She has received training and clinical certification for laser hair removal, SilkPeels, microdermabrasion, medical grade chemical peels, spray tanning and make-up application. She also has an advanced certification with Lavish Lash.
Kristine takes pride in providing excellent service and results for her patients. She resides in Fairport with her precious Yorkshire Terrier Khloee.
